Schwab has obviously had a lot of writing practice in the last five years, having released quite a few books since 2013, and it shows. Vengeful was every bit as good as Vicious and maybe even better. It’s been five years since I read Vicious, the first book in Schwab’s ambitious super hero saga, and although it’s been a longer than normal time between releases, I can say without hesitation that it was worth the wait. The nitty-gritty: A satisfyingly complex, multifaceted tale of revenge, Vengefulis a worthy sequel and is a 2018 book you cannot miss. In the book, there are some special adjectives which are used in a different way from everyday use such as “reposeful, slack lines” or “cold, reserved and dignified umbrella”. Every notion is expressed and supported with clear examples which are given verbally and visually. These chapters divide architecture to main parts and express one or more than one, related notions. And then an ex-flame of Clint’s shows up and throws a wrench into Clint’s relationship with his girlfriend (or “friend-girl,” as one issue identifies her) Jessica – and I’m assuming this is Jessica Jones? But I’m probably wrong? The Russians are mad that Clint bought the apartment building out from under the Russians (I think they were hoping to purchase the building to raze it and build … I don’t know, let’s say a casino or something, it was probably in the first issue I read five years ago, cut me some slack). The first issue takes place during Hurricane Sandy, but the rest show Clint in conflict with a group of the Russian mob (?) who are also involved in Kingpin.Īnd look, here is where I should give the caveat that a) I have watched most of the MCU, and b) I’ve watched a single season of Daredevil, so I have a bare inkling of who all these people are. At some point in 2020, I’m planning to go through the Fables series again. It has been a while since I read any comics compilations. In this book, though, I spent the majority of it wondering where the actual plot was. Sure, a lot of the world made absolutely no sense, and I still find that whole "I'm Dauntless so I jump off moving trains" thing so ridiculously laughable, but I found it really entertaining. Let's be honest, I actually liked Divergent for what it was - a fast-paced, exciting YA adventure that demanded very little of me.
